We wanted to add a little something personal to our blog library, and what better way to do that than to start introducing the people who really make the Niche Collection tick? The people behind the scenes and faces behind the names.
For our first official Team Intro post, I sat down with our newest face, Lina Lemire, who joined us at the beginning of June 2018! She has been working with Maria Niche Boutique Floral shop and being the anchor of the store when Maria is off running the business, doing weddings, planning workshops…the list goes on!
We chatted over coffee (from Saba Bistro next door, naturally!) while she graciously took a break from the massive amount of flower prep she was working on that day. She has been a pure joy, inspiration, and a breath of fresh air that we have longed for and couldn’t be a better fit for the Niche family!
Before I get ahead of myself, lets dive right in!
Jeanine: Hi Lina! Thanks so much for sitting down with me today – I know you are busy and have lots to do! But tell me a little bit about yourself.
Lina:Well, I moved from Ontario to BC in June and am very excited to start a new adventure out here! Oh, and I am obsessed with flowers!! I have been working in floral retail for 10 years. I was really excited when I got the opportunity to come and join the amazing team here at Niche.
J: What is your role with Niche?
L: Floral Designer and Retail Expert for the Niche Boutique Floral shop here in Fort Langley!
J: Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
L: The nature around me and the shift of each season. I like to change up my style constantly since we work in such a fast-paced industry. I feel very strongly that as a designer, I should be just as organic as the materials I work with.
J: I love that answer so much!! Is there a flower or floral design you are currently obsessed with right now?
L: The unique arches that people are creating – so outside the box! Shapes that only 5 years ago were just whimsical inspirations have now become very desirable to brides.
J: What is your favorite social media tool?
L: Instagram! Because it’s the biggest visual statement. Easy to showcase multiple aspect of the floral world.
All About You
J: At the end of the day, outside of our work, we are real people, so to speak! What are your two favorite things to do on a day off?
L: I would have to say tending to my plants, gardening, and cooking.
J: When you go into a coffee shop, what do you typically love to order?
L: Café Mocha!
J: What does your ideal date night look like?
L: Just to go out for a really good dinner with a nice walk after.
J: What was your favorite childhood cartoon you used to watch?
J: I don’t think I could ever forget the theme song of that show! What is a passion of yours that we may not know about? Football fanatic? Secret foodie?
L: I love murder mysteries!
To Top It Off
J: Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of our clients, especially during peak seasons. How do you recharge after busy days? Exercise? Bath with wine? Meditation?
L: Yoga, for sure!
J: So, I have gone through this whole interview without talking weddings, but everyone knows I have to ask at least a few questions! What is a wedding trend you are loving right now?
L: The organic and wild garden look.
J: What is your favorite part of the wedding day?
L: Just giving the bride her flowers and the look on her face. It’s that beautiful moment where all the hard work paid off and you see it on their face.
J: Career wise, where do you see yourself in 3 years?
L: Still doing flowers! Settled in BC. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else right now.
Q: To finish off, what is a piece of advice you would like to share with our customers and clients out there in regards to flowers?
L: At the end of the day, it’s just flowers – that you have to be flexible working with the product we have and can get in. Sometimes, it’s not always a guarantee for something specific. if we can’t get something specific in, there are other things we can do to still create the same look without a specific flower!
Isn’t she just lovely? I had so much fun chatting with her and learning a lot about her myself since she has joined the team! Hope you enjoyed learning about the newest Niche rockstar, too.
